Tuesday, I learnt about MUTATION! What does it mean by mutation? It
is any inheritable change in the base sequence of DNA. There are 3
types of mutations which are :
- Silent
- Missense
- Nonsense
For
frameshift mutation, there are :
- insertion or deletion
- shift in the reading frame
Types
of mutagens are consists of :
- Base analogues
- Chemical mutagen
- Radiation
- Intercalating agents
In
order to identify chemical carcinogens, we can do Ames test. The
higher the concentration of mutagen used, the more revertant colonies
will result.
