Happy Midsem Break!

Hello! For my previous lecture which is on Tuesday, I learnt about Eukaryotes. This includes protozoa, fungi and algae. Dr. said that we are going to exchange notes about algae and fungi since we already have the lecture notes for protozoa. So I just bring my matriculation notes for fungi and algae.

Why algae is not grouped as plant? Because they have no vascular system.
Why algae is not grouped as animal? Because they can make their own food whereas animals find food from others.

Algae has a unique characteristic which is they have different colours based on their pigments. Algae usually involved in "red-tides" or "algal-bloom"

The examples of fungi are moulds and yeast. Fungi can be reproduced by both sexual and asexual. Both asexual and sexual spores or sporangiospores are often actively dispersed by forcible ejection from their reproductive structures. This ejection ensures exit of the spores from the reproductive structures as well as travelling through the air over long distances.

Basically protozoa can be classified into 4 main groups which are apicomplexa, archaezoa, rhizopoda and ciliophora. All protozoa digest their food in stomach-like compartments called vacuoles.
