Last friday, I learnt about the normal microbiota. Microbes are not just cause disease because some of them are beneficial microbes! They can produce food, recycling waste, can be used in genetic engineering (DNA recombinant technique) and also involved in the production of antibiotics.
The
scope of microbiology are bacteria, virus, archaea, fungi, protozoa
and algae. The applications in microbiology are immunology, genetic
engineering, food microbiology, bioremediation, medical microbiology
and agricultural microbiology. Do you know what is the scientific
name for E. coli? It is Escherichia coli! E. coli can be classified
into 5 major groups.
Last
but not least! We have to be in group, adopt a microbe and create a
video regarding that particular microbe. It sounds really
interesting! I cant wait! By the way, I really love Dr. Wan's teaching style.
Even though she is a lecturer and also a researcher, she's always
happy in her class! Very sporting and we are not boring at all! :D
**Dr.
Wan Zuhainis asked us to write some words that we remember from the
lecture on that day and also the muddiest point (parts that we don't
understand at all). Its called '2 Minutes Paper'. Sorry I missed that
part on my previous post!
